The day before Pride is Pink Saturday, this year falling on the 23rd of June. As revelers took over Castro Street, Occupy and Act Up! dropped banners from several roof tops on Castro near 18th Street. With the theme, Community not Commodity, the banners reminded everyone that Pride isn’t just about having a corporate-sponsored party. AIDS isn’t over and Wells Fargo Bank, Pride’s main sponsor, is still focused on building prisons, not homes for people.
