Time to step up protest against corporate sponsorship of pride, people. Entry to Oakland’s Pride Celebration should be FREE, but it’s not.
This is another case of the city of oakland feeding off those with the fewest rights. Let’s speak out against corporate ownership of our celebration!
from quan’s fb event :::
Please join Mayor Quan on Thursday, August 23rd from 7-9pm at Oakland City Hall as we raise money for Oakland Pride’s 2012 Festival! Looking forward also to honoring Zoe Dunning, a true champion for Equality.
Register and donate online
You can specify that the donation is for Mayor Quan fundraiser and we will make sure your name is on the list when you come to City Hall.
This year’s festival will take place on September 2nd in Oakland’s Uptown neighborhood with the theme, “It’s a Celebration.”
What better way to anticipate Oakland Pride’s upcoming celebration than to come to Oakland’s City Hall for a festive evening of fun, food, and refreshments!
Please register and share the invitation with your friends! Tickets are $25/$40 for couples. Please feel free to contact my office about volunteer opportunities or with any questions at 510-238-7072.
We will also be featuring artwork and oral/visual history about LGBTQI families from The LOVING Quilt/Marriage Equality USA COLAGE, API Equality, Let California Ring, Somos Familia and others. We will also have a StoryCorps listening booth and opportunities to sign up for StoryCorps recording sessions. We will have a table for information on Oakland family building resources in this area.
